During the National Championships in Bunbury the AGM of Qld Men's Masters Hockey was held. Gil Voysey was persuaded to continue for another (final) year as Chairman - thank you Gil, Steve Billingham stood down as Secretary and the new Secretary is Wendy LAmb from the Sunshine Coast. It is wonderful to have one of our fantastic supporters taking on an administration role although it is sad to see Steve leave.
Steve has done an amazing amount of work behind the scenes to keep Qld Vets/Masters running smoothly - the paper work involved in being Secretary is incredible and Steve has been a master of organisation and efficiency. Thank you Steve from everyone in Qld Vets and we know you will be there on the committee giving Wendy all the support possible.

OVER 35 REPORT
The National Over 35 championships were held in Canberra on 17 and 18 Oct. This year the championship was fought out for the first time between 4 States: ACT, NSW, VIC and QLD.
Congratulations QLD who once again proved their superiority and were the eventual winnners.
Well done Bill Tomkins who has managed and coached this teams for the last 3 years ably assisted by Jenny who kept the young ones fit and healthy.
In 2011, the Over 35 Championships will be incorporated into the National Masters Championship in Canberra - this is the next step in fully incorporating the Over 35's into the Men's Masters fraternity.

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS BUNBURY REPORT
These championships were from all accounts a great success. Everyone had a great time in the WA sunshine and appreciated the WA hospitality.
Our Qld Teams did well again and congratulations to all players, managers and supporters.
Results are as follows: Over 40/1 Semi Finalist Over 40/2 Semi Finalist Over 45/1 Semi Finalist Over 45/2 WON Over 50/1 Did not make the final series. Over 50/2 Semi Finalist Over 55 Lost the Finals - Runners Up Over 60 Lost the Finals - Runers Up Over 65 WON Over 70 Semi Finalist
OVER 70 TEAM REPORT: This is the second year that we have had an over 70’s team and as the senior team (including the years as O/65s) they had their best results for some years. We sourced some players from WA and Victoria and together with our players this helped to make up a good team. As far as their results go they won 2 games and lost 5. The loss games were only ever by 1 goal and in the lead up to the finals they lost to Victoria by 1 goal which was a stroke and Victoria went on to win the tournament by 1 goal against WA.
Qld v WAC 2 – 1
WA 0 – 1
Vic 0 – 1
WAC 5 – 2
WA 1 – 2
Vic 0 – 1
Vic 0 – 1 semi-final (stroke)
Several team members have worked hard during the past year to make this group more competitive and their efforts have been rewarded. The same next year and who knows what the result could be. I believe that Queensland needs to introduce the "play your age group” to help to improve the performance at all ages.
Cath Weston (Manager)
OVER 65 TEAM REPORT: This year was going to be a tough tournament for our team. We had 8 of our team of 14 coming back from the World Cup in South Africa and they only had 2 days to catch up with the other team members and get organized.
Our first game against A.C.T. we won 2-0. The second against Victoria nothing seemed to be going right and a bit of tiredness crept in, with 32 seconds left on the clock we scored, 1-0.
We played N.S.W. for a 1-1 draw (usual for both teams). W.A we had a good win 5-0 and W.A.C. another win of 5-1.
We ended the rounds on top of the table.
In the Semi we played A.C.T. and won 4-1, that left us N.S.W for the final. They had drawn 0-0 with W.A. in their Semi. We faced N.S.W. in the final for the 2nd year runningand we didn't start too well and they scored in about 2 minutes, that seemed to wake us up and we eventually ran out winners 4-1.
Our thanks to Andre for his coaching, the other wise heads in the team and also the wives present for their support and help throughout the carnival.
Thanks also to International Hockey for donations for presentation awards for opposing teams.
Congratulations to all the team members who were selected for the Australian team for Japan, 2011.
Lenore Mott, Team Manager.
