OVER 60 CARNIVAL REPORT
The 2019 Over 60 Carnival was successfully held in Hervey Bay from 5-7 April 2019. The weather was kind to us and Hervey Bay once again proved fantastic hosts. The Hockey onfield was very competitive with all games closely fought. Off field there was plenty of helpful advice to those playing ( and umpires) and past glories were relived.
The awards at the conclusion of the carnival were received by: Knowledge of the Rules ( and a willingness to share this knowledge with the umpires) went to Gil Puckering from Mackay. Player with the Most Potential went to Bruce McBryde who informed us that this year is his 50th season of Hockey. Doc Turner Award for the Player of the carnival went to Keith Chay.
Congratulations all and thank you to the award selectors who had a very difficult task choosing recipients - especilally for the Knowledge of the Rules.
Over the weekend a raffle was held to raise money to assist Townsville Hockey Club with small expenses due to the floods. Thank you to the team who sold these tickets and also to the players who dug deep to assist our Townsville mates. The prize was a stick and bag donated by Just Hockey and we rraised $1221 to send to Townsville.
