AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HOBART 2017 WRAP
The 2017 Australian Masters National Championships recently held in Hobart resulted in huge successes for our Qld teams and a huge success for the local organisers who planned and organised a very well run tournament.
Hobart turned on some cold unfriendly weather for everyone and many succombed to flus and colds but that didn't dampen the Qld spirit nor commitment to Hockey as the results below testify.
A special thank you to Mick Lever who posted and assisted in posting many photos, results and videos to Facebook throughout the tournament and since and also to all the photographers and budding directors who provided the material to post.  Natalie Jordan live streamed many matches to Facebook  - thank you Natalie and also to Terry Distoldorf, Kelly Darby, Brad Galgon and John Patterson who shared their photos.
If you haven't already subscribed to the Qld Masters Facebook page please do so as it is a great way to stay in touch with the Qld Masters Community.

The Inscription is:  "Phillip McLeod (Ipswich) Service to Queensland Masters Hockey as long-term Honorary Treasurer, and as a player and coach. Also for contributions to the sport in Ipswich and at his club."
A fantastic effort and a well deserved award.
To find out more about this award, go to the Qld Masters Website where you will find the history of the award.
QLD MASTERS EVENTS 2018.
The planning for the 2018 Representative Season is well under way with dates and venues having been chosen for most Qld Championships and Carnivals.
The dates and venues listed are the latest available but more information will be forthcoming early in 2018.
Please note:  The nominations for Qld teams for 2018 are not yet open.  Please wait until a later Newsletter advising of the due dates and procedures.
Over 60 Carnival:  20-22 April
This will be held once again in Hervey Bay and thanks to the generosity of the Hervey Bay Association, it will be held a little later next year - 20, 21,22 April.  This should alleviate some of the concerns regarding the heat and the early season start.
However, if you intend coming to this carnival, you might like to get in early and book accommodation as NSW School Holidays are around this time as well as it is thought that many tourists will be still visiting the State following the Commonwealth Games.
Over 40/50 Championships:  May 4-7 ( Long weekend)
Although these dates differ to the Hockey Qld website, please be advised that May 4-7 will be the correct dates.  However, the venue is still to be decided.
Over 35 State Championships: June 2,3
These championships will be held in Mackay on the 2 and 3 June.

The Over 60/65/70 Qld teams were selected on the weekend and information as to how to view the list of players can be found in this newsletter.
