FINAL DRAW change

With only six days to go before the first of our state teams do battle a new draw has been released. A number of issues have arisen in the last couple of days that have resulted in this change. We wish all the teams the best and safe travels as we head west to the sandy beaches of the west coast.

Draw as at 21.09.14

A couple of changes have occurred to training times as well and any that affect your team will be advised by your manager.

Is this the final draw? - Version 1.09.14

Due to a prior booking of the Perth Hockey Stadium that was overlooked, a new draw has been released in recent days.

Draw as at 1.09.14  (this version no longer available)

Nominations are now open for the 2015 National Teams

The 2015 Australian Men's Masters team nominations are now open for players and all off field positions (coaches, managers, umpires and medical staff). If you are interested in being a selector for these teams, you can also nominate through this process.

This year will see 7 men's teams compete in conjunction with the Australian Women's Masters against New Zealand in the biannual Trans Tasman tournament in Melbourne from the 2nd May until 10th May 2015.

This tournament will see the introduction of new age groups with teams to compete in the Over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65's age divisions.

To nominate you will need to go to the AUSTRALIAN MEN'S MASTERS HOCKEY website to submit your nomination.

Due to the withdrawal of a team from the Over 40/1 AND the Over 60's divisions another draw has been released. Again, please ensure that the previous version (17.08.14) is removed from circulation.

***DRAW HAS BEEN REVISED 13.08.14***

The revised draw ver13.08.14 has been superceded. The latest draw is above.

There has been quite a few changes to game times and importantly a couple of changes for divisional finals have also occurred with the Over 50/2 division final being brought forward to Friday 10th October and the Over 60's final now to be played on Saturday 11th October.

National Championships website

A website for these championships is now active and we encourage all of you to check it out. This website was used at the 2013 Championships in Sydney and provided us with some great information leading into and during the championships.

One of the main aims of this site will be to bring you all the latest results and statistics for all games throughout the tournament.

LATEST UPDATES 29.07.14

The draw released 28.07.14 has today been revised thanks to some keen eyes.

The revised draw ver28.07.14 has been superceded. The latest draw is above.

With 74 teams taking part in this years tournament, it is one of the biggest "single sport" competitions in Australia.
As you can appreciate with 13 divisions to schedule some 248 games over 15 days, it is a mindblowing and exhaustive process to ensure that there is an even and equitable distribution of timeslots. Inevitably there will be some errors and the need for a revised draw or two to be released.

There have been changes to the start dates and in one case the finish date of competition for a number of age divisions as a result of the release of the championship draw.

These changes are indicated in green.

Change to the Over 40's Division 1 & 2 competition (as at 20/07/14)

The age division has had to be revised after a withdrawal of a Division 1 team from the competition.

Originally there were 7 teams who were to compete as division 1 teams this year, now there are 6. Subsequently the age group has now reverted back to a two division competition. This means that there will be 6 teams competing in division 1 and 4 teams competing in divison 2.

With this change also comes a change to the competition dates for DIVISION 2 teams only. They will now play their competition from Monday 29th September through to Saturday 11th October.

All other age divisions have had no change to their competition dates or format.

Revised draw format for 2014 (as at 29.06.14)

After a survey conducted last year by the Australian Mens Masters Hockey Committee, the outcome of this survey has resulted in a restructure of the format for the championships as we have known them.

The main changes are:
  1. Shorter competition dates for many age divisions
  2. Combining of Division 1 & 2 in the 40's age group

As you will see in the dates below, most teams are no longer required to be at the venue for a start on the first Monday of the championships. This is something that you will need to discuss with your team manager as to when you will be required to be in Perth.

If you are intending to have a training run once you arrive, you will need to advise Paul Hardie of this so we can look at booking a turf time. Training times are yet to be allocated by the Championships Convenor but if you get in early there's a good chance you will get the time that you want.

As at 25/06/14 it is still unclear as to what the final changes to the tournament shall look like. Back in our NEWSLETTER in May we informed you of the proposed starting dates for each of the age groups. The starting dates below are the latest updates we are aware of.

***UPDATE 29.06.14*** We have received advice that the dates below are looking very close to being confirmed....90% certain we've heard.
