Over 35, 45 & 55 State Championships Toowoomba Friday 6th - Monday 9th June
With only a few days to go we look forward to seeing you all again for what should be a great weekend of hockey in the Garden City. With two turf fields and a great atmosphere we hope you enjoy what should be an exciting weekend.
The draw has been released and available for download from our website or by clicking on DRAW. We congratulate our "Apprentice drawmaker", Trevor "TJ" Johnson on putting it together.
The draw will see 24 teams playing over the 3 age divisions with the first 2 games commencing this Friday afternoon at 5pm.
PLAYERS STILL REQUIRED FOR OVER 35, 45 & 55 TEAMS
If you know of someone or are wanting to have a run at the upcoming state championships there are still teams in all three age divisions that are desparately seeking extra players.
An online spreadsheet has been setup by one of our members in an effort to assist you to link up with a team or teams to contact players.
It is not too late to join a team, so click on the link/s and come along for a great weekend.
Please click here to view teams looking for players.
Please click here to open the spreadsheet to submit your own request to find a team.
There is still one player eligible for Over 35's who has not been claimed by anyone so if you can fit him in your team, I'm sure he would appreciate it. He is listed on the above spreadsheet.
Umpires for State Championships
It is looking as though we will not have anywhere near enough of a pool of umpires to sufficiently cover all games for the entire weekend. Your team, if you have not brought a non playing umpire with you WILL be required to leave an umpire on the field to umpire the game immediately following yours (each team on both fields)...no exceptions.
Although there will be a few umpires available over the weekend, there are still 60+ games that need to be umpired.
2014 National Championships
Following a survey conducted last year by the Australian Masters Hockey Committee, feedback from the players who took part in this survey has indicated a preference for a shorter tournament for younger age groups. As a result AMHC have decided to make some changes to the format.
The final draw can't be published yet, however likely competition dates by age groups are:
35's (27th or 28th Sept - 5th Oct)
40/1's & 40/2's (3rd Oct - 11th Oct)
45/1's (3rd Oct - 11th Oct)
45/2's (1st or 2nd Oct - 10th Oct)
50/1's (2nd Oct - 11th Oct)
50/2's (30th Sept - 10th Oct)
55/1's (28th Sept - 11th Oct)
55/2's (29th Sept - 11th Oct)
60's 65's & 70's (29th Sept - 11th Oct)
We must REITERATE that this is only proposed and should be used as a guide for this years national tournament and to give you some idea as to your first and last game days if you are are considering booking accommodation.
Team nominations close at the end of June for this tournament therefore a draw cannot be formalised until this process is completed.
We are seeking an update in relation to this and we will bring you the latest when we know.

The 7th Grand Masters World Cup is to be played Thursday June 5th - Friday June 13th. This tournament is for age groups O60, 65, 70 & 70's.
There are quite a few Queensland players represented across just about every one of the age groups and amongst the ranks of the coaches, managers and umpires.

We wish each and every player and official the best as they strive to bring home the gold.
